- The Sakhalin Aynu, Sakhalin

The fabric of this robe was woven from thread made by twining nettle fibers. Nettle robes are called tetarpe ‘white thing’, because the fabric presents a white surface. Aynu motifs are applied to the front, hem, cuffs, and back. As the pattern of the motifs was influenced by the Nivkh and other peoples from the northern regions, it was slightly different from that of Hokkaido Aynu.
