The artists of the Kalahari desert

| Africa's Kalahari desert is one of the world's driest areas and the main source of water is the watermelon which is grown by the inhabitants. Recently, a new group of African artists -called "desert artists" by Westerners- have made their appearance. They express their relation with the desert by performing a "watermelon" dance and also by playing the Kalimba (thumb piano). |
