FY2003
This study will comparatively research the influence that Christianity and mission
activities have had on local societies in areas that have been leading objects
of study for anthropologists, and what problems anthropologists have engendered
as a result, comparatively examining specific examples from various regions. Since
Christianization, Westernization and civilization have often been considered as
more or less synonymous, they have had a decisive impact in many respects. Our
final objectives will be to shed light on these present conditions and historical
processes, as well as the anthropological significance of Christianity and the
missions.
