The National Museum of Ethnology (Minpaku) is a research center for ethnology and cultural anthropology.

Core programs

Multiple, primarily intensive courses introduce and critique the latest perspectives and methodologies in ethnology and cultural anthropology.
Credits for these classes are transferable to the Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies at Kyoto University, and the Graduate School of Human Sciences at Osaka University, and the Graduate School of Intercultural Studies and the Graduate School of Human Development and Environment at Kobe University.

Based on the universities' student exchange agreement, graduate students in the Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies at Kyoto University, the Graduate School of Human Sciences at Osaka University, and the Graduate School of Intercultural Studies and the Graduate School of Human Development and Environment at Kobe University can take shared seminars at the Sokendai School of Cultural and Advanced Studies and receive credit for them from their universities.
