Purpose

What is digital humanities? As digital technology itself continues to evolve, it constantly changes with time. This is evident in the way the National Museum of Ethnology, Japan (Minpaku), has dealt with computers since its foundation in 1974. This symposium will review the museum’s 50-year history of experimentation and its wide-ranging activities in recent years to discuss what kind of knowledge the discipline can provide with the society.
