Introduction

It has been recognized that ethnicity is polysemous and challenging to handle as a concept for analyzing and evaluating a subject. However, with sufficient understanding and attention to the idea, ethnicity can be a beneficial concept that other expressions cannot replace.
In this symposium, we will focus on the actions of the state and power entities on peoples as units of ethnicity. We will identify various aspects in which ethnicity is materialized in the relationship between people and the state. We will consider the process by which the existence of ethnic groups is made conscious among people through formal and informal relations.
